A mold is a metal tool that determines the product&#8217;s shape. Production in the injection molding machine<\/h2>\n\n<p>Next, the machine goes to work. The mold is placed in the injection molding machine and is ready to be filled. <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Small plastic granules are heated<\/strong> until they are liquid. This molten plastic is then injected into the mold under high pressure. Within seconds, the material cools down and solidifies. Then the machine opens the mold, and the product can be removed.   <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"1-smelten-van-het-kunststofgranulaat-1-1-1\" style=\"font-size:30px\">Complex products: 2K molds<\/h3>\n\n<p>Sometimes a product consists of different materials. In that case, 2K molds <a href=\"https:\/\/orangeplastics.com\/en\/injection-molding\/overmolding\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/orangeplastics.com\/en\/injection-molding\/overmolding\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">(2-component injection molding)<\/a> are used. This allows two materials to be combined in the machine at once.  <\/p>\n\n<p>An example of this is a hard plastic toothbrush with a soft rubber grip. Additionally, plastic can be combined with other materials, such as glass, wood, or metal.
